Planes kill the birds

US pilots battle against gulls, doves, bats. Gulls and other seabirds most frequently strike, followed by doves and pigeons, starlings, then raptors and waterfoul, according to statistics.

The pilot was able to land safely but only after flying the packed airliner with no power. The deadliest tragedies occurred in 1960, when a flock of starlings brought down a civilian plane in Massachusetts killing 62 people, and in 1996, when 34 people died in a military aircraft in the Netherlands. Judging from the four As the Anglo-Chinese Junior College student received on Friday, his parents should indeed be elated.

Ten employers who supposedly had locals on their payrolls, hired about 1,000 foreign workers in their place. This is the largest number of employers the MOM has prosecuted at one go for using 'phantom' workers.
Under the law, businesses are required to hire a certain number of Singaporeans or permanent residents before they can employ foreigners. Some employers cheat by getting their hands on the details of unemployed locals, mostly retirees, and pretending to be hiring them, to make up the numbers. Then they hire foreigners instead. A MOM spokesman said a total of 50 companies are under investigation, including the 21 the 10 were involved in. They face 387 charges.
Facing the most number of charges were two men in the SME Group of companies, which provides cleaning services.

China gave a new food safety law on Saturday, tougher regulations and severe punishment for makers of bad products after tainted products showed serious flaws in the food industry. The law goes into effect June 1. China's government has been trying to restore confidence in the country's food system since September that infant formula was contaminated with melamine. The tainted milk is blamed in the deaths of at least six Chinese babies and the sickening of nearly 300,000 others. China's current system of splitting food safety responsibilities among many different agencies has resulted in uneven enforcement and confusion.

Bak kwa not cheap

Most Bak kwa outlets are doing a roaring trade during festive seasons. They took this opportunity to increase prices to match demand. A man complained that why he need to pay more to stall owners he had supported throughout the years. He wanted the outlets to lower their prices as a token of appreciation for their customers' continued patronage.

I think that the owners are taking this opportunity to earn more money than normal days to use it on Chinese New Year. Its his opportunity to earn and they would not easily let it off.

Third bird flu victim die

Deadly H5N1 struck china in the last few weeks. The third victim died from bird flu, contacted a dead poultry. China health ministry expects more to come when it is chinese new year, everybody would gather together and eat renuion dinner, which would contain poultries. A 2 year old girl had also contracted the diesease and would be expected to die a few more weeks later.

I wonder where they get all this names. I remembered that there are many funny dieseases like "birds flu" and "mad cow diesease". All these names are created in a funny way. I think that it might link to the animal that had been named after.

Festive cyber crime

Cyber criminals would take this opportunites to strike, causing malwares to be downloaded. They put greeting cards that would lead to malwares on high traffic-sites, electronic gifts cards that make u click on link messages. Cyber criminals are smart and they took this chance to strike on young people that would get actracted to it.

I thought that the cyber criminals should be on their way to visit relatives to get ang pows. I do not think that they would have so much time to attack ur computers.

The plane crashed into the river as it had hit a flock of birds, or had been hit by it. 2 of its engines were all fuming, causing him to do a emerngency landing, into the water. Passengers screamed in terror. It was a double bird hit.

it was rare for a double bird hit. Most of the crash landing were caused by birds, they attacked the engine, causing it to fume up. 11 crashes cause 8 death.

Poor needs food

Kgs of rice were given to the south east district of asia, as they needed rice. Although rice price had been increasing lately, by looking at the line graph, I realised that the prices of rice were even higher a few decades ago. Wheat, soy beans and rice were dropping last time and it had started increasing a fews years ago. Most of the people said tha the prices are too expensive.

i do not really think so. If the prices are expensive now, the prices a few decades ago will then be extremely expensive. Other people were still able to survive last time, now why not?

Food donated to needy family

Chinese new year goodies were given to needy family, to help them celebrate Chinese New Year. Its consist of rice and goodies, and NTUC vouchers for them to buy food for reunion dinner. Singaporeans are actually donating money when they caannot even support themselves.

Van bangs into 2 school boys

2 primary school boy were walking home when they were knocked down by a van on the perdestian crossing. Passer-by witnessed it and they told the police that the van driver was speeding at high speed.

New Moon Abalone Broth

New Moon Abalone Broth also known as "small abalone" or clams. Out of the 120 cans of production, 2 or 3 of them were spoiled. New Moon manufacturer said that the cans were not contaminated, only expired. It gave out foul smells, and it was all taken of the shelves by New Moon for checking.

It so happen that a show supported by New Moon showed that the abalone broth in the can were also spoiled. i think that the can they showed in the show was a New Moon abalone can but they took of the brand cover, and acted out that the abalone broth was expired. It is so coincidence that they happen together.

The fire broke out at noon, but the firefighters put it out in just 5 minutes. Office workers were allowed to go back to work at 1 pm, only had faint smells in the office. No serious damage were done to the building. The causer of the fire is still under inveestigating.

Its lucky that singapore have skilled fire fighters. Or else the it would took more then 30 minutes to take down the fire.

Fake 50 dollar notes.

More then 30 cases were reported. $50 dollar notes were fake if they were made from waxy paper. i wonder who would be that smart to make fake $50 dollar notes. They would most likely exchange it for smaller amount of money. If caught paying using fake $50 notes, the person would be fined and jailed.

The notes are now circulated around Singapore.and a few had been caught using fake notes to pay. We must be careful when handling with $50 notes.

Karanguni queen

SGH housekeeper Mrs wong, recycled useless materials into valuables. She donated $16k to the needy patients from the money she made by recycling things. She can turn a useless washing powder packets into creative bags. Her colleages followed her doing and they took away the dustbin in the office, to promote the 3R. Recycling, reuse and reduce.

There would be an annual clean and green fair, and they would gather those recycled materials to sell.

They commented that most of the young supporters believed that its Jennette Aw that did the good job but older ones think that other actors and actress did a better job then her.

Many adults think that they should not praise all on Aw but other actors and actress. Some thinks that Aw did not do a better job then other characters in the story.

They were all brought to the hospital, but the helpless paramedics could not do anything.

almost everyweek, i would see a report on fire break out in the newspaper. fire is indeed dangerous.

Pandas from china

Standing there to queue for at least 4 hours, standing under the sun., just to get a zoo ticket to watch 2 pandas. In taipei, the new giant pandas that came from china were given as a gift from china. Thousands of people were queue up to visit the giant panda. The zoo only allows 24,000 people per day to visit the pandas.

Its rare to see a panda in action but standing under the sun for 4 hours, i dont think that its worth it. Animal lovers and children would surely go for it, as it is a rare chance. Tourists would akso visit Taipei for the sake of those pandas.

British couple gave birth to white and black

Mix race British couple had given birth to a black and white twin. It is the second time. They had 4 children all together, 2 white 2 black. It is very rare for such things to happen. Other people might not recognise them as twins, as their skin colour is totally opposite from each other.

I am very amazed at this type of twins. You might not be able to find it in any other places. I wonder what would happen if they gave birth to a quadruple, 2 whites 2 black? Or maybe triplets, 1 white 1 black and half black and white? Its amazing.

Rare shark died in malaysia beach

Rare shark died through injuries after being pulled up to shore by fisherman. Its called the rhino shark. Its very rare and very difficult to find in the seas. The shark is very colourful, but it died on his way to shore as its injuries are getting serious.

I think that they should carry the shark and put it back into sea, where it belongs. its not right to take something from somewhere that you should not be taking. It is also rather sad for the rare shark species.

Human bieng bitten by dogs.

Neighbours quarreling over dog biting accident. Mr and Mrs how were being bitten by their neighbours dogs. They went for a stroll in the morning with their 2 dogs and while walking past the neighbours gates, 3 of the neighbours dog ran out of the gate and attacked them. All of them had serious injury. Many other people were trapped in it. They close the door to prevent the fumes from coming in. Many others knocked on the door, hoping that they would let them in the toilet but they shut the door to prevent fumes from coming in. When they were rescued, Mr Low remembered walking over more then 30 corpse.
