Teen gang attacks 3 boys

A 12 year old boy was at Tiong Bahru Park with two of his friends when a group of six teens confronted him on Wednesday afternoon. The gang accused the boys of having assaulted one of their member's younger brothers. The teens, aged 12 to 20, asked the boy and his friends to surrender their belongings, which included $30 in cash and a $500 mobile phone. The teens then punched one of the boys in the eye and slapped another in the back before fleeing.

It seems more like day light robbery to me.
They used the excuse of being assaulted by one of them and demand some compensation.
If you are the victim, what will be the reaction ?
Would you give the money voluntarily ?
I think I would do just that to prevent any unforseen injury on me.
However I will take note of the person's appearance including any prominent mark for future identification.
